Everyone's heard of "Retail Therapy" (for those who don't know, it means that to shop, its therapeutic). Well, today after 1 hour in Takashimaya, I think of that phrase in a new light. RETAIL SCARY. i believe retail therapy is for those with bottomless pits (for those who don't know-again, have ALOT of $$). Because only those with bottomless pits of cash have soo much $$ to spend and that they'll never go into debt so shopping actually makes you fell better. you have new(not to mention, expensive) stuff, and the money spent doesn't even create a scratch in your pocket.

So, back to Retail Scary. For me, I buy things on impulse and I can't stand not going home empty-handed. So I buy a little something. Most times, that something would stay in my cupboard for super long before I decide to wear it. Like those tops I bought from the States last year. Still in plastic. Those hair-ties I bought during the march hols- haven't worn them. Pants from Israel last last year-haven't worn them. And there is so much other stuff in storage that I need a new cupboard- seriously. So why I think it’s scary because I've never worn almost 1/3 of the clothes I own! And these things are bought with my parents’ hard-earned money! Imagine wasting money on things you'll never wear and these things aren't cheap (hehe). Although some may think this amount is small, in the long run, its a lot of money which could amount to what could feed a starving African family for a whole year! People have even gotten into debt or relationship problems because of their addiction to shopping (*watch the Oprah, Tyra or Ellen show). Besides that, spending on useless things make your carbon footprint bigger. Save the environment! Imagine, what you need not buy could save the world as there is less demand; producers will make less thus loosening the taxes on the worlds resources. Not to mention the amount of pollution. its a long cycle that makes my head ache whenever I think about it. See why I think its scary? Well, blame it on the bright and attractive advertisements that draw people to shops like flies.

Wow. Cheem eh. Not really, but it’s a good topic for thinking.
Retail therapy- MY FOOT!
